I am a wiped film distillation consultant and coach.

I may be the only independent wiped film distillation consultant/coach. At least I may be the only one who consults with every industry and is specific to this technology.

Done correctly, wiped film distillations are incredibly efficient, fast and clean ways to purify materials. Done incorrectly, they cause material damage and equipment breakdown. By leveraging my experience running a wiped film still plant, I expect to help you maximize your own systems and be able to produce purer material faster.

I also have developed a master class in wiped film distillation. Basically, I wrote the book on wiped film distillation and then developed the book into this class. The class teaches distillation theory and practice. When you complete the course, you will know how to start a distillation and why it works. You will also know what problems to expect and how to solve them. By taking my class, my students are able to quickly level up and solve problems that would have taken them much longer to learn on their own. The feedback from this class has been very positive.

In addition to the class, I also provide remote and on-site consultation. I solve distillation problems and evaluate equipment. But, more importantly, I also provide coaching. Basically, when I work with a company, I teach the people I am working with, so that they have a deeper understanding of the equipment and process. My goal is to teach my clients as much as possible in the time I am there.

• The last 6.5 years I worked for Pope Scientific Inc., running their distillation plant. Pope is a major manufacturer of wiped film stills. In this role, I learned how to run lab trials, pilot scale, and production scale stills. We processed more than a million pounds of material a year on seven different wiped film still systems of all sizes. I had the opportunity solve many challenging distillations and I look forward in using that expertise to help you.

• I had the opportunity to work with materials from a diverse range of applications. Some included citrus oils, liquid polymers, silicone polymers, vegetable poly-glycerides, waxes, natural oils, cannabinoids, synthetic oils, cosmetic oils, polyols and many others. Many of the materials handled were difficult to handle, difficult to purify, or both.

• Previous to my time at Pope, I worked for 16 years in chemical and pharmaceutical production in many roles. I worked as an operator, chemist and production manager. I used reactors, filters, oven dryers, rotovaps and many other standard pieces of chemical production equipment.
